Karlyn Benson has extensive experience working in museums and galleries. She was Interim Curator and Exhibitions Manager at The Dorsky Museum at SUNY New Paltz from 2022-2023, and Director at Fridman Gallery, Beacon, NY in 2021. Karlyn was the owner and director of Matteawan Gallery in Beacon from 2013 to 2018. In 2024 she curated Talking Threads at Susan Eley Fine Art and Second Nature at N/A Project Space. Previous exhibitions include Hudson Valley Artists 2023: Homespun (2023) and Collective Consciousness: New Work by SUNY New Paltz Art Faculty (2021) at The Dorsky Museum and Chemistry: Explorations in Abstract Photography (2016) at the Garrison Art Center. Prior to Matteawan Gallery, Karlyn worked in the Registration and Collection Management department at the Museum of Modern Art in New York for six years. She was also an Executive Assistant at AEA Consulting, a cultural consulting firm. Karlyn received an MA in Art History from the University of Texas, Austin and a BA in Art History from Purchase College, Purchase, NY. She has lived in the Hudson Valley since 2003.
